Volleyball Australia is pleased to announce its partnership with Mrs. Gina Rinehart of Hancock Prospecting and the Georgina Hope Foundation, which has helped build the sport into one of the fastest growing in Australia, will continue for another four years as Patron and Major Partner.

Through the support of Mrs Rinehart and both Hancock Prospecting and the Georgina Hope Foundation, Volleyball Australia has been able to provide new opportunities for athletes from school age right through to the elite.

Most notably the partnership has enabled Volleyball Australia to continue to fund the elite women’s indoor volleyball program, which receives no funding from the Australian Sports Commission.

Next year a new Centre of Volleyball Excellence for women will open its doors at the Australian Institute of Sport, made possible in large part because of the generous support of Mrs Rinehart.

“We were thrilled when Mrs Rinehart came on board as Patron and sponsor in 2013, and we are even more excited that Mrs Rinehart, Hancock Prospecting and the Georgina Hope Foundation will be with us for another four years up until the Tokyo Olympics, including with Mrs Rinehart attending as our patron for the Olympics” Volleyball Australia Chief Commercial Officer, Rod Harys, said.

“Having a sponsor with the stature of Mrs Rinehart, a devoted patriot of our country, is about much more than financial support. She provides inspiration and motivation for our players, who have been absolutely thrilled when she has been on hand to cheer them on.

“I know our Rio team received such a boost when they knew she would be in the stands watching. And now our women’s indoor team can plan for the future, which includes returning to the Olympics for the first time since 2000, with Mrs Rinehart cheering on in the stands.”
