The Australian men’s indoor volleyball team is confident of bouncing back after suffering a 3-2 loss to Japan in the third round of the Volleyball Nations League in Bulgaria.
Japan came from a match point down to win the final set 17-15.
It capped off a frustrating weekend for the Volleyroos following losses to Italy and Bulgaria.
Australia now heads to Ardabil, Iran for the fourth weekend of the VNL with matches against Iran, France and Portugal.
Volleyroos, Lincoln Williams, says his side will build from the narrow loss to Japan; “We will put a lot of focus into winning next week with the other challenger team, Portugal. We have many things to build on from this weekend and I think we can be a better team in the next matches.”
Coach, Mark Lebedew, says he is looking forward to playing two of the powerhouse teams in world volleyball, Iran and France; “Sometimes it is easier to face those teams because we have no expectations.”
After this fourth round, they’ll head to Brisbane for the fifth and final round before the play-offs.
