Australia’s Taliqua Clancy and Mariafe Artacho del Solar have won gold at the Asian Beach Volleyball titles in China. Taliqua and Mariafe defeated the Chinese pair Wang and X. Y. Xia, 2-0 in the final.
The Australians winning the second set 32-30.
It is Taliqua’s fifth gold medal at the Asian Beach Volleyball titles, while for Mariafe it is her second having won in 2018 with Taliqua.
Their gold medal capped off a great tournament for Australia with Phoebe Bell and Jessyka Ngauamo winning bronze.
Bell and Ngauamo defeated their Vanuatu opponents 2-0 in the bronze medal game.
For Phoebe it is her second bronze at the Asian titles, while for Jessyka and this combination as a pair, it is a first medal. Their only loss through the tournament was against the number one Australian team and eventual winners Artacho and Clancy.
The Australian men’s team of Damien Schumann and Cole Durant finished fourth, going down to China in the bronze medal game.
