Brodie Baker to join the Australian Volleyball Academy in 2021

The Australian Volleyball Academy is excited to announce that Brodie Baker will be joining its program in Canberra for 2021.

Brodie began playing volleyball in 2017 at All Hallows’ School, based in Brisbane.

Brodie is now a QAS athlete and has now gone on to represent her state in National tournaments for both indoor and beach.

“I am very grateful for the opportunity to join the AVA next year and am eager to train in an elite, full-time environment with new and experienced coaches” said Brodie on her 2021 AVA signing.

“I am excited to see where this part of my volleyball journey will take me during 2021”.

Women’s AVA Head Coach Marty Collins is excited for the opportunity to work with Brodie in 2021, saying “Brodie strikes me as highly motivated and organised which she brings to her volleyball”. “These attributes have helped her succeed thus far and I really think she will respond very well to a full-time training environment”

Brodie heard about the AVA through her Queensland Academy of Sport (QAS) coaches and from being a part of Volleyball Australia’s Junior Development Program.

“I was very happy that Brodie applied as I had been following her volleyball progress over the years and believe her game can suit the top level in future” added Women’s Head Coach, Martin Collins.

Brodies biggest volleyball inspiration is Beach Olympic gold medallist, Natalie Cook. Brodie one day hopesto complete her tertiary studies as a student-athlete abroad and eventually make it to the Volleyroos in either beach or indoor.

Brodie is set to begin her journey with the AVA in Canberra in January 2021.
