The Australian Women’s Volleyball team staged a great comeback to defeat India in a marathon five setter in the playoff for ninth and tenth place at the Asian Senior Women’s Championships in Seoul, South Korea.
India took the first two sets 25-22, 25-22 before the Volleyroos mounted a stirring fight back to win the next three 25-22,25-21, 15-12.
The result means Australia finishes in ninth place, bettering their tenth place two years ago in the Asian Championships in the Philippines.
Earlier, Australia accounted for New Zealand 3-2 to make it through to the ninth/tenth playoff.
Japan won the Asian title with a 3-1 victory over Thailand in the final. Thailand upset China 3-1 to make it through to the decider.
