Volleyball Australia Level 1 Referee

A referee is accredited as a Volleyball Australia Level 1 Referee when they successfully complete the following requirements

 

  1. The candidate must be at least 12 years old to be eligible for this accreditation.
  2. Be a registered member of your State Volleyball Association.
  3. Complete the Play by the Rules Child Protection and Harassment & Discrimination Online Courses. 
  4. Complete the online Volleyball Australia Level 1 Referee course.
  5. Agree and sign the VA Officials' Code of Behaviour

 

This accreditation is valid for a period of 2 years as long as the individual remains a member of their state association.

Volleyball Australia Level 2 Referee

 

A referee is accredited as a Volleyball Australia Level 2 Referee when they successfully complete the following requirements:

 

  1. The candidate must be at least 14 years old to be eligible for this accreditation
  2. The candidate must have a Volleyball Australia Level 1 Referee Accreditation
  3. Be a registered member of your State Volleyball Association
  4. Attend the VA Level 2 face-to-face Referee course.This course is currently run via the state associations, please contact your state to find out when the next course is being run near you. 
  5. Complete the Community Officiating General Principles Course
  6. Meet the required competencies for a  Volleyball Australia Level 2 Referee. The minimum number of games required are:
    3 games as a 1st Referee (1x assessment for competency)
    3 games as a 2nd Referee (1x assessment for competency)
    2 games as a Scorer
    2 games as a Line Referee
  7. Agree and sign the VA Officials' Code of Behaviour

This accreditation is valid for a period of 4 years as long as the individual remains a member of their state association.

 


Volleyball Australia Level 3 Referee

To achieve Level 3 accreditation, a referee can be nominated by their State Volleyball Association, Volleyball Australia's Referee Committee, or themselves, in all cases, the nomination must be accompanied by a letter of endorsement from the State Association. 

A referee is accredited as a Volleyball Australia Level 3 Referee when they successfully complete the following requirements:

  1. The candidate must be at least 16 years old to be eligible for this accreditation
  2. The candidate must have a Volleyball Australia Level 2 Referee accreditation
  3. Be a registered member of your State Volleyball Association 
  4. Meet the required competencies for an Volleyball Australia Level 3 Referee. 
  5. Agree and sign the VA Officials' Code of Behaviour

Accreditation Upgrade Application Form

This accreditation is valid for a period of 4 years as long as the individual remains a member of their state association. This accreditation is currently managed by Volleyball Australia in conjunction with Volleyball Australia’s Referee Committee. Volleyball Australia Level 4 Referee

To become a Volleyball Australia Level 4 Referee, candidates must fulfil the following requirements:

  1. The candidate must be at least 18 years old to be eligible for this accreditation
  2. The candidate must have a Volleyball  Australia Level 3 Referee accreditation
  3. Be a registered member of your State Volleyball Association
  4. Meet the required competencies for a Volleyball Australia Level 4 Referee

Accreditation Upgrade Application Form

This accreditation is valid for a period of 4 years as long as the individual remains a member of their state association.

This accreditation is currently managed by Volleyball Australia in conjunction with Volleyball Australia’s Referee committee and is given via invitation only. National Referee Uniform

Volleyball Australia is excited to launch a brand new design of referee uniforms. Our referee uniform has remained unchanged for almost 2 decades, so with the creation of our new logo, we took the opportunity to think about presenting our referees in a new, more bold livery. The changes allow us to align with the FIVB, AVC and sporting codes more generally where referees have moved away from the traditional white.

We believe that the sky blue referee uniform provides a fresh look and will be a great contrast to the navy pants (Volleyball) and shorts (Beach Volleyball) and will assist in enhancing our sport.

The VARC's National Referee Uniform has been designed to be worn by all referees in both disciplines - Indoor and Beach Volleyball. While it is a requirement that all referees at national competitions and events are attired in this uniform, some states have also indicated that they require this uniform to be worn at various competitions and events. All referees in Australia are encouraged to wear this uniform to designate that they are qualified.
